A precious soul was born today
And I heard all the creatures say
Will it give white milk or wool
Can it carry a load or pull
Will it fly on a feathered wing
Or dive and swim with a fish's fin
But God who does just as he may
Smiled and then I heard him say
See my beloved firstborn son
The light of hope for everyone
The creatures could not understand
Salvation through the Son of Man
But shepherds saw where Jesus lay
In a manger in the hay

Roost
Silhouettes of shades
Waiting for the dawn
Shadows fly from naked trees
Fleeing from the sun

Insomnia
The Shadow Thief was in my room
Then he ran away
Melting through the window pane
Running down the street
Through pools of foggy light
Yellow in the black of night
I thought I heard his feet
They seemed to say 'Wait for the day'
As they pattered down the street
I hoped he would return
But my heart was loud in my ear
And he did not appear
Then the tired stars
One by one are overcome
By the weary sun
But all at once the Shadow Thief
At the window - look
Returning what he took
And I sleep despite the sun
Until half past one
Then he ran away
Melting through the window pane
Running down the street
Through pools of foggy light
Yellow in the black of night
I thought I heard his feet
They seemed to say 'Wait for the day'
As they pattered down the street
I hoped he would return
But my heart was loud in my ear
And he did not appear
Then the tired stars
One by one are overcome
By the weary sun
But all at once the Shadow Thief
At the window - look
Returning what he took
And I sleep despite the sun
Until half past one
